Lennart Christensen 👋 WordPress developer/designer from Esbjerg DK
Read my story of how a simple hobby turned into my career as a WordPress web developer. It all started as a passion for web design and websites, but it evolved into much more. Today, I'm proud to call myself a professional in WordPress development.

From hobby to livelihood: My journey into the world of WordPress web development
Some of the first WordPress website development I did for a company can be found in my archive, dated 07 November 2007. However, my interest in web design and websites etc. started earlier and I remember having a spare time job at a machine dealer where I also helped update the website with pictures etc. via ftp. It must have been in the early noughties. A lot has happened since then, and both the opportunities and my skills have obviously evolved considerably since then 😂
My web development skills range from building mobile-friendly websites that work seamlessly across different browsers, to building scalable WooCommerce shops, developing WordPress plugins and other specialised website needs. In addition, I can provide technical support in WordPress/WooCommerce and help with DNS, PHP/server, CDN etc.
If you send me a mockup, I can code a customised WordPress theme for your specific purpose.
Every WordPress theme I develop is designed and built professionally from scratch with a "design proof" layout. This means that everything works as expected and there is no way to break the layout. This ensures a consistent look and feel and a professional website that always presents your content in the best way.
Over the years, I have built up a wide range of competences and experience in web development, and I am always ready to take on new challenges. I am dedicated to delivering customised solutions that match your needs and wishes.
From freelance to agency to self-employed: My Journey as a WordPress Web Developer
After a few years as a freelancer - with education and other work on the side - I founded Meresalg ApS in 2013, and in 2016 it became my full-time job when two partners bought into the company. At the time, Meresalg ApS was a full-service web agency with a focus on website development and online marketing, including SEO optimisation.
In the beginning, it was a challenging journey, working incredibly long hours and struggling to establish ourselves and get our name out there. We had a wide range of tasks and projects and every day was different. As with any startup, there were challenges along the way and it took time. One of the important lessons we learned on our journey was the importance of saying no and specialising in a specific field. In the beginning, we were eager to take on every task and say yes to every request that came our way.
We wanted to show our versatility and meet all our customers' needs. But over time, we realised that this approach wasn't always the most effective. By spreading ourselves too thin and trying to be experts in everything, we discovered that we couldn't deliver the same quality and expertise as specialising in one particular area.
After careful consideration and evaluation of our company structure and strategy, my two partners and I decided to make a bold decision. We recognised that in order to focus on our individual strengths and goals, we needed to split our company.
I also realised that my dream wasn't about running an agency with fancy premises, lunch schemes and a team of employees and all that comes with it. Although I may have thought so at first, I realised that this wasn't what motivated me. What I really missed was the close dialogue with different companies. I wanted to offer a more personalised experience where I could adapt my skills and competences to specific requirements and needs. At the same time, it was important for me to find the right work-life balance where I could spend quality time with my family and have the freedom to prioritise both work and personal commitments in a balanced way. I realised that the path for me was not to be a manager in an agency, but to create a more personal and individual approach to my work.
These considerations resulted in my two partners, Lau and Andreas, buying me out of Meresalg Aps in 2018. For me, it was an opportunity to start over and continue my journey as an entrepreneur. I founded my new company, CCO ApSwhich focuses on my passion for WordPress programming and web development. There is only one employee in this company and that's me. This new direction gives me the freedom to explore and utilise my technical skills while offering a personal and direct approach to collaboration.
Although splitting our company was a big decision, it was the right way to go to fulfil our individual goals and ambitions. We realised that we could thrive better by pursuing our respective passions and strengths separately. By specialising, we could build in-depth knowledge and refine our skills. Although we now operate as separate entities, we still have a strong relationship with each other and keep in touch. We cherish the time we had together and the experiences we shared during our journey together and to this day we still collaborate and utilise each other's skills.

From Web Designer to WordPress Web Developer: The Combination of Code and Creativity
For many years, more than 10 years in fact, I have been working with WordPress. In the beginning, I saw myself more as a web designer than a web developer. I focused on creating visually appealing websites, but I quickly realised the importance of having in-depth knowledge of the code behind it. I didn't want to settle for cheap standard solutions based on templates.
My basic philosophy is that I want to have full control over the code as much as possible and offer scalable customised WP solutions. Over time, I also started expanding my skills and exploring new areas such as developing WordPress plugins, APIs and other exciting features. So today, I can rightfully call myself a web developer with expertise in WordPress.
My graphic design skills still play an important role in my work. I carry a good amount of creativity in my toolbox, which means that my projects are not only well-coded, but also aesthetically pleasing. I believe that the combination of solid coding and aesthetic appeal is the key to creating well-crafted work.
So, in short, I'm a Web developer with a focus on WordPresswho can combine technical expertise and creative flair to deliver great results.
